ASHLYN HARRIS (WSH) – Was a beast in goal saving four shots on top of some very hard-fought clearances.

SAMANTHA KERR (WNY) – Scored in the 85th minute to give the Flash a 1-0 lead.

CHRISTINE SINCLAIR (POR) – No matter where you looked Sinclair was there. From leading breaks on the offensive side to clearing balls out on the defensive side. Sinclair also setup Alex Morgan for the match-winning goal in the 52nd minute.

KATE DEINES (SEA) – Although the Reign FC left Portland with an L, Deines came up with the save of the weekend (and possibly of the NWSL so far) against Alex Morgan in the 36th minute. Betos had fallen in the box defending Morgan which left the goal wide open. Morgan ripped a shot from her favorite foot into what seemed to be an open net but Deines was positioned perfectly on the goal line and deflected the ball out for the save.

NWSL FANS – Over 21,000 fans came out to watch this weekend’s NWSL action including an over-capacity crowd of 4,569 at the the Maryland SoccerPlex and a league-record 16,479 at JELD-WEN Field. Add in the live video stream viewers on both nights (2,000+ for Saturday, no exact number for Sunday), you are looking at 25,000 (probably closer to 27k) who supported the NWSL and women’s soccer this weekend. Realize only half the league was in action this past weekend. FCKC mentioned they sold over 5,000 tickets to their match against the Boston Breakers that was postponed.
