Seattle Reign (4-10-3, 15pts.) v Chicago Red Stars (6-6-4, 22pts.)

Starfire Stadium, Seattle, Washington
Call it luck or skill, but with six games left in the regular season the Chicago Red Stars are five points away from a coveted last spot in the NWSL playoffs.
It was skill that has allowed the Red Stars to surge going 3-1-0 in their last four games, including a dramatic tie to FC Kansas City and an important one goal win against the Western New York Flash.
On the other hand it might have been luck that the Red Stars managed to scrape a 1-0 win over the Washington Spirit last week off an own goal, as well has watching their old rivals, the Boston Breakers, drop their last two games, allowing the Red Stars to steal fifth place.
Chicago will need both luck and skill to take down another surging team, the Seattle Reign at Starfire Stadium Thursday night. Seattle is the hottest team in the NWSL at the moment going 4-1-1, and though they haven’t moved much on the NWSL table, a team that is playing with a newfound confidence and producing a winning result will be a tough opponent for the Red Stars to face on the road.
Despite a tough sell that the Reign will make the playoffs (though not mathematically impossible), a win at home will be important before they had off on a 3 game road trip out east.
The Red Stars are out West this week with two-road games against Seattle and Portland. Two road wins could lift the Red Stars over the Western New York Flash for the last playoff spot.
