Portland Thorns FC have been busy during the “Discovery Player” signing period, inking their second player, forward Danielle Foxhoven.

“Danielle is a great addition to our already powerful group of attacking players,” said Thorns FC head coach Cindy Parlow Cone. “She is a very cerebral forward with great vision and finishing abilities.”

Foxhoven attended the University of Portland where she finished her career ranked fourth all-time on the Pilots scoring list with 193 points (57 goals, 25 assists). She was named WCC Freshman of the Year in 2008 and also earned All-WCC First Team honors in 2009 and 2010.

After college, Foxhoven was drafted 17th overall in the 2012 WPS Draft by the Philadelphia Independence. When the league suspended operations she signed with FC Energiya Voronezh in Russia where in nine appearances with the club she found the back of the net six times (including a hat trick).

Foxhoven returned to Portland following her six months in Russia and joined the Pilots as an assistant coach.

“It is an awesome opportunity to have Danielle back in Portland with us,” said Pilots women’s head coach Garrett Smith. “I know that someone with Dani’s abilities should still be playing the game professionally, and I know she will find a team to land on sometime soon. But for now, for our program and our players the opportunity to have Dani with us is definitely a huge advantage.”
