After an undefeated streak that lasted nearly two months and helped FC Kansas City rise to second place in the National Women’s Soccer League, the Blues finally met their match against the defending champions.

The streak started with two draws and included seven consecutive victories, but came to a nightmarish end with a 7-1 loss to the Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park on Sunday night. It was the first time this season the Blues had given up more than three goals.
