A couple of weeks ago we got word that the NWSL was working with all the teams to provide a live streaming system and even though we haven’t heard any update from the league, the teams have taken it upon themselves to update their fans.

The latest team to announce a live streaming option for their matches was the Boston Breakers. Today the Breakers informed their fans via Twitter that all home matches will be streamed and they “do not anticipate games to be geo-blocked.” The team will be charging a “small fee per game” and will be announcing those details in the near future.

On Tuesday the Seattle Reign FC took to Facebook to update their fans that they too will providing HD-quality live video streams of all their home matches using YouTube. The Reign FC also confirmed what we heard from the NWSL that “all teams in the league have agreed to stream their league matches.”

Last week the Chicago Red Stars announced they are partnering with Ollin Omnimedia to provide HD-quality live video streams of all Red Stars home matches both in English and Spanish. All matches will be archived and fans can go back and re-watch their favorite matches throughout the season. The Red Stars also announced fans will be able to watch matches on their mobile devices by downloading the official Red Stars app on any iPhone or iPad.

The Washington Spirit has been streaming their matches (audio only) for the last couple of weeks and plan on their first live video stream of the season for this weekend’s match against the University of North Carolina. Although no official partnership has been announced, this weekend’s live streaming will be handled by BC Productions and will be available on Livestream.com for free. Previous matches for the Spirit were streamed via the team’s USTREAM channel and at least for now they are listed in the channel’s archive.

That’s a start. Four of the eight teams have released information on live streaming and we’ve heard from at least one other team that plans on providing live HD-quality video streaming but are finalizing the details. Once more details are released we will keep everyone updated.
