Congratulations to Washington Spirit’s Lori Lindsey on being voted NWSL Fans’ Choice MVP for Week 5 for her all-around performance this past weekend versus the Boston Breakers.

Not only did Lindsey control the midfield and continually encourage her teammates to increase their pace, she also made sure her team earned a much needed point against the undefeated Breakers by scoring one of the most memorable goals so far this season.

In the 51st minute Diana Matheson found Lindsey at the 18 who one-touched it and rocketed a shot into the upper-right corner of the goal beating a diving Breakers keeper Ashley Phillips to even the score at 1-1.

Fans recognized the importance Wambach had in her team’s 2-1 win over FC Kansas City by outvoting Lindsey on Facebook, but in the end it was Lindsey being named MVP.
