Sky Blue FC’s defender Christie Rampone has been voted as the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for week six of the 2013 NWSL season.
Rampone helped her team to earn their third and fourth shutouts of the 2013 season last week, after a 1-0 victory May 16 against the Portland Thorns and a 3-0 win over Seattle Reign on May 19, extending their consecutive shutout streak to three.
Sky Blue FC has been on a roll allowing only a single goal in the last 430 minutes of play. The last goal against them came in their match with the Chicago Red Stars, a 90th minute equalizer by Alyssa Mautz.
So far the United States National Team Captain has played all 630 minutes this season and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. She has been a key factor in helping SB to earn a 0.57 GAA (tied with the Thorns for best in league).
Tom Sermanni also listed Rampone on his roster today for the upcoming US National Team friendly against Canada at BMO Field in Toronto on June 2. She is currently the most capped active player in the world with 280 appearances and is the second most capped player in US history behind Kristine Lilly (353 caps).
Sky Blue is back in action this Saturday May 25 in Overland Park, Kansas at Verizon Wireless Field. They will face FC Kansas City at 8:35 pm (ET) for their fist of three meetings this summer.
