Injury Report:
Washington Spirit – OUT: Robyn Gayle (right knee sprain), Caroline Miller (right ankle fracture)
FCKC – None reported.

The torrid schedule continues for FC Kansas City this week as they take on the last-place Washington Spirit in Maryland. Washington looks to reverse course at home following a deflating 4-0 loss to the Western New York Flash.

Both teams come to the match after making some significant personnel moves. The Spirit promoted reserve coach Mark Parsons to the top job after firing head coach Mike Jorden, waived midfielder Domenica Hodak and traded to acquire forward Lindsay Taylor. FC Kansas City traded forward Renae Cuellar to the Seattle Reign for countrywoman Teresa Noyola and the plan for Lauren Cheney to be out as she prepares for her wedding.

What to Expect: Washington takes the field with something to prove after a tough loss to the Flash and a scoreless streak stretching five games. Goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris vented her frustration following the blowout and called for tighter play. Look for her words and the new firepower at the top to add stability to the reeling team.

FCKC relied on Cheney over the last weeks to pull together their attack. Without her they may struggle to find an offensive rhythm early in the match. Although they showed no signs of fatigue on Sunday, tired legs could also be an issue for the busy Blues. In spite of those factors, it’s difficult to imagine a team that looked as crisp and cohesive as FCKC just a few days ago could lose to a rebuilding Washington side.

Score Prediction: 1-0 in favor of FC Kansas City with a goal from Erika Tymrak.
