FC Kansas City announced today they have agreed to terms with Erika Tymrak, the team’s second selection in the NWSL College Draft, and Bianca Henninger, the second selection from the team’s NWSL Supplemental Draft.

“These two are players we targeted in each of the drafts and we couldn’t be more excited to have them be a part of the first FC Kansas City team,” remarked team president, Brian Budzinski. “I think people are going to be excited about the team our technical staff puts on the pitch.”

As a goalkeeper for the Santa Clara Broncos, Henninger won the 2011 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year award, and recorded eight shutouts and 67 saves. Impressively, she stopped two penalty kicks in a game against Portland. She was named the team’s co-captain and started 18 games. In her junior year she was named the U.S. Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year, and was selected for the 2010 NSCAA Women’s College Scholar All-America First Team. She would round her junior year out with an impressive accolade as she earned the most saves in the WCC, with 90 saves on the 2010 season.

Henniger is also a proud member of the U.S. National Team, as she was a member of the U20 World Cup championship squad that played in Germany. She played every minute of the tournament, allowing only two goals in the U.S. team’s victorious campaign. In the 2012 WPS Draft she was picked 13th overall by the Philadelphia Independence.

Tymrak was the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Year since 2004 and after scoring three consecutive goals and completing three assists in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, she picked up her second Southeastern Conference Tournament MVP honor. In 2012 she was named to various national teams of the week six times. During her senior year at the University of Florida she was twice named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the week.

“We’re looking forward to having these great young players,” said head coach Vlatko Andonovski as he looks forward to opening training camp next week. “Erika (Tymrak) and Bianca (Henninger) will fit right in with the quality talent we’ve already assembled.”

FC Kansas City opens their training camp next Monday with full-field sessions beginning on Tuesday, March 12th.

As always, the signing is still pending approval by the league and per league and team policy, terms of the contracts are not disclosed.
