FC Kansas City looks to be stocking up on draft picks for this Friday’s NWSL Draft as they’ve sent midfielder Sinead Farrelly to the Portland Thorns FC in exchange for 16th overall pick.
“We were blessed with a very strong and deep midfield,” said Technical Director Huw Williams. “Sinead is a great player and will do very well in Portland. We feel this draft is also very strong and we will be able to improve our roster with this selection.”
Farrelly appeared in 16 matches last season for FCKC and scoring one goal, a header off a cross from Lauren Holiday (then Cheney) on April 26, 2013 against the Seattle Reign FC.
With the trade, FCKC now holds six picks in Friday’s draft: one selection each round in the first (5th) and fourth rounds (35th), while making two selections in the second (12th, 16th) and third (19th, 20th) rounds.
