With just a few days before the regular season opens, Seattle Reign FC’s general manager Amy Carnell has stepped away from the position citing personal reasons. Laura Harvey, the teams head coach, will take over the responsibilities of GM.

“I want to thank the club for the opportunity to help bring professional women¹s soccer to Seattle,” Carnell said.  ‘I will always be a fan of the club and wish them all the best for this season and beyond.”

Holding the dual role of head coach and GM is nothing new to Harvey as she held the same position while she was with the Arsenal Ladies.

“While disappointed about Amy’s departure, I’m excited by the new challenge,” Harvey said. “We have a clear vision for what we want to achieve on and off the field, so I am pleased I’ll have the opportunity to more directly shape the destiny of the club.”

No word on if Harvey will retain the dual role throughout the season or if this is just a temporary move.
